[Spokane, WA] The Spokane Lilac Festival Association announces the award recipients of the 2026 Junior Lilac Parade, a 70-year plus tradition, and the only middle school marching band competition in the region. This year over 60 units participated in the parade with 15 marching bands.
The parade took place on Saturday morning, May 9, 2026. Judges were spread throughout the course of the parade route in downtown Spokane to adjudicate entries. This year’s theme was “Embrace” a celebration of Spokane, community, and a little bit of sparkle.

Large Band Awards (more 90 musicians or more):
- Cheney and Westwood Middle Schools Marching Band
- Chase Middle School Marching Band
- Northwood Middle School Marching Band
Small Band awards (less than 90 musicians):
- Highland Middle School Marching Band
- Greenacres Middle School Band
- Selkirk Middle School Wolfpack Marching Band
Dance Awards:
- Peperzak Drill Team
- Chase Middle School Drill Team
- Glover Middle School Dance Team
The Grand Sweepstakes honoree will appear in the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade, presented by the Spokane Lilac Festival Association, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, 7:45 p.m. in downtown Spokane.
