We are fortunate in Spokane to have a military installation right in our own back yard! Spokane loves Fairchild Air Force Base, home to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, 141st Air Refueling Wing and the 336th Training Group.
America 250 Essay Contest
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, middle and high school students are invited to share their reflections on what America means to them.
Categories:
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
High School (Grades 9–12)
One winner from each category will be honored at the All City Civic & Military Luncheon.
The Middle School winner will ride in the Jr. Lilac Parade.
The High School winner will ride in the Torchlight Parade.

All City Civic Military Luncheon
The All City Civic & Military Luncheon is a longstanding annual tradition of the Spokane Lilac Festival, bringing together civic leaders, military representatives, first responders, and distinguished guests from across the region. Held each year as part of the festival’s celebrations, the luncheon honors service, leadership, and the enduring spirit of community pride.
Armed Forces Appreciation Golf Tournament
The SLFA is proud to partner with Team Fairchild annually to host the Armed Forces Appreciation Golf Tournament. This tournament benefits the Wing Morale Association at FAFB, which is dedicated to fostering camaraderie, supporting morale, and enhancing the quality of life for the airmen and women and their families stationed at Fairchild, and the Spokane Lilac Festival Association.
