Area and Military Relations
Royalty Scholarship Program
Over the span of more than six decades, the Spokane Lilac Festival Association has evolved, embracing various activities and undergoing transformative changes. Yet, throughout its journey, the SLFA has remained steadfast in its commitment to one of its original goals – the empowerment and promotion of today’s youth. Anchored by devoted volunteer directors and a spirited Lilac Royalty Court, the SLFA’s presence extends beyond Spokane’s borders. From April to October, weekends are spent traversing the Pacific and Inland Northwest communities, covering a distance exceeding 8,000 miles and gracing over 10 with our splendid float and royal court.
Parade
The Spokane Lilac Festival Association is home to the largest Armed Forces Torchlight Parade in the nation. We are proud to put on this parade that brings our region together. With a mesmerizing procession featuring school bands, cheer and drill teams, regional festivals, community organizations, different cultures, and the proud military units of the Inland Northwest.
Float
The floats gliding through the parade are made entirely by us! The dedicated crew behind the scenes, affectionately known as the “Float Toads,” are the architects, custodians, and presenters of the Spokane Lilac Festival Float. This vibrant masterpiece graces not only the renowned Lilac Parade but also graces the stages of summer’s Pacific Northwest community parades and events.
With camaraderie at the core, our friendly collective extends an open invitation for you to join our ranks. Whether you bring a repertoire of skills in wiring, welding, woodworking, or simply an eagerness to partake, your presence enriches the float-building experience!
