As we step into March, my heart is full of gratitude and excitement for all that is unfolding for the Spokane Lilac Festival. This season of selection and celebration always brings a renewed sense of purpose—and this year is no exception.
It is my absolute honor to introduce our 2026 Royal Court: Naliesha, Simone, Chloe, Ava P., Ava H., Kahlan, and Hayden. Each of these remarkable young women embodies our mission of Honoring our Military, Empowering our Youth, and Showcasing our Region. They bring intelligence, compassion, leadership, and a genuine desire to serve—and I cannot wait for our community to get to know them. This is going to be a truly special year as we Embrace all they have to offer.
We are also thrilled to announce this year’s Grand Marshal, Julia Sweeney. Julia’s connection to Spokane, along with her talent, humor, and heart, make her a perfect fit for our celebration. We are honored to have her lead this year’s Armed Forces Torchlight Parade.
In addition, we are proud to launch our student Essay Contest for middle and high school students across our region. As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this is an opportunity for students to reflect on what America means to them and how our community contributes to that story. We cannot wait to see the creativity, insight, and inspiration that our students will share.
March reminds us that this festival is not just about events—it’s about people, tradition, and the connections that continue to strengthen our community year after year. Thank you for your ongoing support, your enthusiasm, and the “Lilac Love” you bring to everything we do.
With gratitude and sparkle,
Monika Hawkinson
President, Lilac Festival Association
