Area & Military Relations
Spokane is truly fortunate to host an array of esteemed military installations right within our community! The heart of our city resonates with appreciation for Fairchild Air Force Base. While our active duty military members hold a special place in our hearts, Spokane is also home to a vibrant community of Veterans and Retired Military personnel. With Veterans of Foreign War posts scattered throughout, a caring VA hospital, and a welcoming Veterans Home, our commitment to this demographic is unwavering.
Royalty Scholarship Program
For over six decades, the Spokane Lilac Festival Association has evolved, embracing various activities and undergoing transformative changes. Yet, throughout its journey, it has remained steadfast in its commitment to one of its original goals – the empowerment and promotion of today’s youth. Anchored by devoted volunteer directors and a spirited Lilac Royalty Court, our presence extends beyond Spokane’s borders. From April to October, weekends are spent traversing the Pacific and Inland Northwest communities, covering a distance exceeding 8,000 miles and gracing over 10 communities with our splendid float and Royal Court.
Festival & Parades
The Spokane Lilac Festival Association is home to the largest Armed Forces Torchlight Parade in the nation! We are proud to put on this parade that brings our region together. With a mesmerizing procession featuring school bands, cheer and drill teams, regional festivals, community organizations, different cultures, and the proud military units of the Inland Northwest.
We are also excited to host another Lilac City tradition – the Junior Lilac Parade. A celebration of our youngest Spokanites, you’ll see elementary and middle school bands and drill teams, youth organizations, other local clubs, as well as the Lilac Junior Court.
